The Spirit of Lake Murray was built in 1995 by SkipperLiner Industries in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. It was formerly owned by a hotel in Jacksonville, Florida, where it was known at "The Jacksonville Princess". The vessel is spaciously designed with two climate-controlled interior decks, outdoor strolling decks at the bow and stern. There is a large outdoor patio on the upper deck. It is a handicap accessible and Coast Guard approved vessel for up to 149 passengers. Amenities may include a full service bar, a portable dance floor, spacious restrooms, flexible seating arrangements and large windows offering panoramic views of beautiful Lake Murray.

The Spirit of Lake Murray is Coast Guard certified and regularly maintained to adhere to strict safety regulations.

- Is the vessel handicap accessible?
Yes, our ship is wheelchair accessible and provides handicap-accessible restrooms. You are required, however, to inform us in advance if you are bringing guests in wheelchairs or guests who may need special assistance in any way so that we can ensure seating on our main deck.

- Do you sail in inclement weather? What if it rains or snows?
The Spirit of Lake Murray will cruise in most weather conditions all-year round. Each enclosed deck is climate controlled for your comfort. In the case of severe weather conditions or upon the direction of the US Coast Guard, the ship will remain dockside for the length of the event. For Charter Cruises, please read the contract for special reference to inclement weather.

- How can I make reservations?
To make a reservation for a Lunch Cruise or Dinner Cruise, call 803-730-3044. This is the same number to use when making Charter Cruise arrangements.

- What is your cancellation policy?
For Public Cruises, all purchases are final and non-refundable. We cruise rain or shine throughout the year. For Charter Cruises, please refer to the Charter Contract.

- Are there any age requirements to cruise?
Children are welcome on lunch cruises and some dinner cruises. The Spirit of Lake Murray is licensed by the United States Coast Guard to carry 149 passengers and no distinction is made between children and adults. There is no children's or youth discount on our public cruises. No one under the age of 21 will be permitted on our Moonlight Cruises. Children are counted as adult passengers on all Charter Cruises.

- Is smoking allowed on the cruise?
All interior areas of our ship are non-smoking. Guests who smoke may do so on the outdoor observation decks only.

- Is there a phone on board that receives calls? Will my cell phone work on the cruise?
The Spirit of Lake Murray does not have a phone for use by guests. However, most cellular services are available on the water. For the comfort of other guests, we recommend cell phone be used on the outside decks only.

- What is our cruise route?
Cruise routes may vary. Weather permitting, the Spirit of Lake Murray departs from Lake Murray Marina and generally cruises pass Bomb Island to the area of the dam on Highway 6. Charter Cruises can go on other routes when arranged at booking. A charter to the Saluda area, for example, will require more time and needs to be scheduled in advance.

- What is the difference between "Boarding Time" & "Cruising Time"?
"Boarding Time" is the earliest you and your guests may board the ship. Our public lunch cruise typically begins boarding one half hour prior to cruising time and our dinner cruises an hour prior.
You are free to board anytime after that up until the "Cruise Time". The ship will leave port at the "Cruise Time". Of course, no boarding will be allowed once the ship has left the port.

- Do you offer Gift Certificates?
Yes, Gift Certificates are available for purchase in increments of $50, $100, $250 and $500 or for any cruise type. Certificates for specific cruise types are not valid for holidays or special events.

- What is the dress attire?
For private charters, please check with your host for appropriate dress. Public Cruises are at the customer's discretion, however, high heels are discouraged.

- Lunch & Dinner Cruises:
For men, appropriate attire includes slacks and a polo or button down shirt. For women, nice slacks, Capri pants or a sundress is recommended. In the summer, more casual attire is expected on a lunch cruise. We discourage collarless t-shirts, jeans, shorts or sneakers on dinner cruises.

- Charter Cruises :
Charter Cruise Dress is set by the person arranging the charter. Check with the person making charter arrangements. Wedding or business lunch dress may differ from a family reunion cruise which may be more relaxed and casual attire is fine. To be sure, always check with the person sponsoring the charter.

- What type of Entertainment do you have?
For Charter Cruises, the Spirit of Lake Murray is able to offer live entertainment when arranged in advance. Space for live entertainment may be limited for larger groups. Also, DJ music can be arranged. Click on the DJ button for preferred DJs. Church groups may want to bring a portable key board on the vessel for sing-a-long music. Subtle recorded music will usually be played in the background during a Public Cruise.

- What size groups can the Spirit of Lake Murray accommodate?
The Spirit of Lake Murray can host up to 149 guests, however, a comfortable number for a cocktail hour or reception using the dining salon on the main deck and the Admiral's Room on the upper deck is closer to 110. The vessel can comfortably accommodate a sit-down meal of 68 guests indoor and 12 guests on the covered deck.

- May I bring my own camera or photographer on board?
Guests are more than welcome to bring their own camera for personal pictures aboard the ship. In addition, as you are boarding, we will eventually have a photographer available to record the moment for your entire party. These photos may be pre-purchased for your group or purchased independently upon departure. Of course, for all charter cruises, you may bring your own photographer on board.

- When does the season end?
Because it is fully air-conditioned and heated, the Spirit of Lake Murray cruises all year round! In fact, December will be one of our most popular months due to the many Holiday Parties we have aboard. We also cruise for both New Year's Eve and Valentines Day!
